un samedi en france: greetings, gratitudes, and goodbyes

Okay, since I've had a few weeks experience with french, I'll go easy on you *giggle*

Let's start with....

Hello/Good morning:  bonjour (bone-shour)

Hi/Bye:  salut (sal-loo)

Good evening:  bonsoir (bone-swar)

How do you go?  {How are you?} [formal setting]:  comment allez-vous (comon-t-allay-voo)

How are you? [informal setting] / I am fine:   ca va (sa-va)

Thank you:  merci (meyr-c)

Thank you very much:  merci beaucoup (meyr-c-bow-coo)

Goodbye:  au revoir (aw-re-vwar)

Well, see you later:  bon, a tout a l'heure (bone-aw-too-tel-oor)

See you soon:  a bientot (a-beyon-too)

Yes:  oui (wee)

No:  non (noh)

Very well:  tres bien (tray-beyon)

Not:  pas (pa)

And:  et (ay)

You:  vous (voo)

Now let's put these french words into french sentences!

PERSON 1:  Hello!  How are you?....  Bonjour!  Comment allez-vous?

PERSON 2:  Very good, thank you!  And you?....  Tres bien, merci!  Et vous?

PERSON 1:  Yes, I am fine thank you!........  Oui, ca va tres bien!

PERSON 2:  Well, goodbye!  See you later!........  Bon, au revoir! A tout a l'heure!

PERSON 1: Yes, goodbye!  See you later!.......... Oui, au revoir!  A tout a l'heure


PERSON 3:  *sigh* Hi,.......... *sigh* Salut,

PERSON 4:  Good morning, how are you?.............. Bonjour, ca va?

PERSON 3:  Not very well, thank you.................. Non, pas tres bien, merci

PERSON 4:  Well, see you soon....................... Bon, a bientot

PERSON 3:  Yes, see you later.......................... Oui, a tout a l'heure

{wow, that last conversation was kinda depressing!}

Well folks, I hope you learned something new on this Saturday in France:D  You may have already known a few of these words, but hey, it might have been a little of a review for you.  And if you're wondering why I didn't put the squiggly little things on some of the french words that needed them, my computer won't let me do that so........... yeah:)  I'll try to figure it out.  Bon, a tout a l'heure!
